Huge Problems!

First thing today we called American Airlines to make my cargo reservation for the first leg of my flight Thursday (I have to go cargo to LA, and then on Air Tahiti Nui I can fly with my family in the cabin). Well, they told us (at this late date, I might add) that cargo is closed on Thursday because it's a holiday. No amount of pleading would make them change their minds, nor would they consider letting me fly in the cabin. We called Delta, United, Continental and Aloha cargo, and they are all closed too. We think I may have to stay behind and then fly by myself at a later date.

We'll keep everyone posted as the news develops. In the meantime, I think the airlines should be barraged with complaints! You can email me at Desiree@rabbittinparadise.com for any help or suggestions, which would be more than welcome!

Our Bon Voyage Party

Since we will be saying good-bye soon, we decided to have lots of friends over to help celebrate - and what a fun night it was! Not only were there lots of people around, several of them tried to surreptitiously slip me a few off-limit treats. Unfortunately for me, they were foiled at every turn. But I did have a good time trying.

I did, however, get a very nice present of some perfectly wonderful white ginger blossoms, the kind that are very fragrant and also, as I found out, very delicious.

If you look closely at the picture of me on the couch, you can see me just finishing off a few petals, with the rest of the flowers sitting all the way in the right corner of the picture, just waiting for me to grab them.

And then, the following day, I got to sleep in for a whole extra hour, and they saved me some flowers for breakfast. So there I was, rested, refreshed and well-fed, and getting ready to face the demands of international travel.

At the spa . . .

I had to get the full treatment for our party, so as you can see I got a brushing and a fur-fluff with the vacuum cleaner. There's nothing that puts me in a party mood more than feeling beautiful!

Good-bye Party

I have lived in this apartment for two and a half years, and we have had several people over, but tonight I am going to see more humans here than ever before; we are having a goodbye party for our friends because next week we'll find ourselves on a plane bound for Paris, Europe.

I am spending the morning having my coat brushed an groomed, and I may also get a nice manicure for the occasion. Then I intend to sleep all afternoon so I can be rested for all the festivities - I love to stay up late and celebrate! We light candles, feast and laugh together - tonight we may have someone to play the keyboard so there might be some singing as well. Lucky for me I know how to fold my ears down close to my head if things get out of hand.

My Halloween Costume

There's nothing like a crown to make a girl feel really regal, you know what I mean? That's why I wanted one for Halloween, but I think I'll be able to get much more wear out of it during the coming year particularly if we get to go to Monte Carlo!

My Limousine Ride

Today I had to go to the showroom to meet some folks, so we called the big white limousine and I got to ride on the human's shoulder. It's always tons of fun and I love to sit and look out the window at the passing cars, and to look at all the sights that I'm not going to see for very much longer! Here we are going over the bridge at the Ala Wai Boat Harbor at the westernmost part of Waikiki, heading for the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Then, later when we got to the center, we bought my very first Halloween Costume, which I can't reveal until tomorrow, which is Halloween, although for many of you it will be over before it starts for me!

The Calm Before the Storm

Here I am sitting under my favorite end table, the one with my phone, which you may have seen in other pictures (have to stay in touch with the world, for goodness' sake) -

Well, today we got the news we are leaving Honolulu for PARIS, Europe on Thanksgiving Day - and getting to Paris early Saturday morning, (that's samedi matin for you folks who might not be sure). I am going to fly in the cabin all the way from Los Angeles to Paris on Air Tahiti Nui, who seem to be the friendliest airline going. We also get two whole meals, and I of course have to order strict vegetarian fare . . .

Well, as you can see I'm getting as much rest as I can because you can be sure the coming weeks will be packed, packed, packed with packing (and probably some repacking).

Along with the timothy hay, water bottle and Oxbow pellets, I intend to take just the essentials: long gloves for the opera, my almost-diamond halter - and, of course, in Paris you must have a scarf!

Getting Ready for the Big Move

Soon we are going to be getting our tickets for the big move from Honolulu, Hawaii to Paris, France! I have to help with the packing, you know. As you can tell, it is a big job and someone has to be around to see that it's done right. That's what I'm doing here.

For a long time now - weeks, as a matter of fact - we have been deciding what to take and what not to take, putting things in bags, getting closets cleaned out, throwing out old magazines and giving books to the library. My family had to leave me for a few days when they went to the French Consulate in San Fransisco to get their papers to go. Aunt Cynthia came to stay with me - my favorite aunt, you know - because she lets me have the best treats in the world, and doesn't tell.
